:: Misano, Italy Race Report
Saturday Misano, Italy
After an exciting Qualification race on Saturday Stuart had to settle with a 14th place after breaking a drive shaft.
Saturday - Race 1
Determined to get back up the field from 7th row on the grid Stuart made a great start, moving up to 5th and 6th places, only to be "rammed" by Makinen, forced by Mat Summerfield.
However Stuart ended up with a shredded front tyre causing him to retire on lap 1. Mat Summerfield was later disqualified from the race,
Alexander Lvov, Stuart’s team mate after a remarkable battle with Renault driver Markus Bösinger finished the race in 7th.
Saturday - Race 2
The reverse grid Race 2 saw a 2nd place grid position for Alexander Lvov, with a near back of the grid start for Stuart.
Alexander was soon under attack by the Renault driver Markus Oestreich, soon followed by the MAN’s of Hahn and Albacete but finished in a very creditable 5th place.
Stuart stormed through the field to 8th place by lap 3. The race was frustrated with numerous yellow flags and aggressive racing lines taken by Blaise, resulting in Stuart been unable to overtake.
Stuart tailed a faction of a second behind to take 8th place by the chequered flag. Then followed a post race interview by the Stewards with Blaise who imposed a one place penalty on him for blocking, this raised Stuart's finish to 7th position.
Stuart Oliver said “I promised the team after the first race has gone so badly that I was determined to push as hard as I could get up the field and bag some points. I'm exhausted but happy with the few points I got and feel motivated to into Sunday on a high”
Sunday - Race 1
In the battle for the Super Pole Alexander Lvov missed the cut this time and started his first Sunday race from 11th two places behind Stuart who achieved a 9th place grid start from the Super Pole.
Stuart started well but team mate Lvov collided with him causing rear wheel damage. This gave the two chasing drivers the racing line, dropping Stuart to only eleventh; Alexander managed to grasp a few points finishing in 9th Place home.
Sunday - Race 2
Keen to make amends Stuart and team mate Alexander start from the middle of the grid (and this time Stuart and Alexander intended to be successful together!)
The Team Allgäuer pair held their position in 7th and 8th place until lap 6 when the Allgäuer drivers made a charge on the opportunity.
However, desperate Buggyra driver David Vresecky made a frustrated counter attack running wide hitting the tyre barrier. The Buggyra driver, on returning to the circuit hit the rear of Stuart’s MAN spinning him round spectacularly.
Team mate Alexander Lvov avoided with difficulty the stationary and spinning trucks and continued to fight his way to the chequered flag to clinch an 8th place.
Stuart had to retire on the next lap.
“It was not my weekend - I can’t blame the team. The truck performed well. I didn’t expect to be at the centre of ‘racing incidents’ out of my control that held me back from racing. The weekend has given the team more opportunities to identify ways we can get more out of the truck and prepare for Albacete” Stuart Oliver
